Lerika & Peter

A Pumpkin-Headed photoshoot at Newmillerdam

Back in October 2024 I got a photography request that was a little out of the ordinary, and I absolutely love it when couples bring their unique ideas to the table. Lerika and Peter reached out to me with a brilliantly quirky idea: they wanted a photoshoot wearing pumpkins on their heads. Of course, I said yes immediately! We met on a crisp October afternoon at Newmillerdam, a stunning woodland area in West Yorkshire.

The golden hues of autumn had transformed the forest into a magical backdrop, the perfect setting for something a little unconventional. Armed with two hollowed-out pumpkins, Lerika and Peter fully embraced the fun and spooky theme. As we wandered through the forest trails, we captured a mix of eerie and playful shots. The light filtered beautifully through the trees, highlighting the rich oranges and deep greens of the landscape. Whether they were holding hands on a leaf-strewn path, peeking out from behind trees, or striking dramatic poses with their pumpkin heads tilted just so, their energy was infectious.

At Newmillerdam itself, we took advantage of the stunning woodland, snapping some moody, atmospheric shots that contrasted beautifully with the lightheartedness of the whole concept. By the end of the session, we were all laughing and slightly covered in pumpkin remnants, but it was worth every moment. Lerika and Peter’s photoshoot was a reminder that photography isn’t just about capturing moments—it’s about embracing creativity, personality, and sometimes, a little bit of Halloween madness.

If you’ve got a wild idea for a photoshoot, I’d love to hear it! Let’s create something unforgettable together.
